In 2015 WHMIS was updated through the UN Global Harmonization System with the goal of insuring all countries were using the same signs, symbols and reporting documents. Effective December 2018, WHMIS 1988 no longer applies. It is therefore important to update your previous WHMIS certification to ensure compliance.
WHMIS training is offered by Jobtrain.ca and it is a comprehensive, affordable program which ensures that students are well trained and aware of all aspects of WHMIS. Failure to undergo WHMIS training may cause serious health problems in workers or potential disastrous outcomes in the workplace (i.e. fires, explosions). As a result, WHMIS training is a standard requirement in all workplaces where hazardous product is being handled.
