The Impact of COVID-19 on the Hospitality Industry: Part 2

The Impact of COVID-19 on the Hospitality Industry: Part 2, Food PrepDuring this month, many restaurants are already open or will soon be re-opening.  There is no doubt that the pandemic has left an indelible footprint on the food industry which will take a long time to erase.  As re-openings are occurring, we have been unfortunately witnessing the closing of some of our favourite restaurants.  Many of these businesses are small businesses that could not withstand the loss of business that came with the closings and quarantine during Covid-19.

With the re-opening of many restaurants and food establishments, there is a sense of excitement for some whilst others feel scared to return.  The health authorities have implemented guidelines in each province and territories which outline the steps for safe re-openings.

Members of the public can be assured that all restaurants will be inspected to ensure compliance and safety.  Some of the guidelines include but are not limited to social distancing of 2m, clear markings on the floor and easy-to-read, visible signage outlining the guidelines for guests and employees, use of PPE, and the outlining of restaurant policies that must be implemented.  To review the guidelines for your specific province or territory, contact your local public health provider or view our guide at foodprep.ca.

Please remember to support your local restaurants and businesses as Pandemic restrictions start to ease.
