Food Trends

New year and new trends in eating great food safely.  The year 2017 has seen many new food trends and many old ones come around again.

  1. Avocado:  The avocado is everywhere this year.  Regaled for its many healthful properties and portability.  The avocado has seen a rise in popularity as a breakfast food, smoothie staple and has even showed up in ice cream.  The avocado has come a long way since the days of guacamole.
  2. Cauliflower:  This nutritional powerhouse has gained popularity as part of the paleo diet and has usurped the throne from kale.
  3. Food Delivery:  UberEATS and many other apps have lead the way for a food revolution.  Consumers are loving the ability to order up from their favourite restaurant and have their food delivered efficiently.  Gone are the days of takeout simply consisting of pizza and Chinese food.  Today’s consumers can enjoy thai delicacies and West Indian delights delivered to their home or office at the press of a button.
  4. Yogurt:  You go, I go, we all go for yogurt.  Greek yogurt leads the way with its much touted probiotic qualities.  Its popularity has yielded a variety of different yogurts in the marketplace.  Vegan brands, lactose-intolerant, goat’s milk, sheep’s milk, soy…the list is endless.

Stay tuned to this space for Part 2 of Food Trends in 2017.
